Our Designpens are produced in Germany, ensuring high-quality manufacturing
and supporting local industry. We prioritize environmental sustainability through
rigorous management practices certified by EMAS and ensure the highest
standards in plastic recycling with EuCertPlast.
The early EMAS certification in 1998 according to the world’s strictest environmental management system – as the first company in the industry – is proof of this environmentally oriented attitude. This also includes the certification of the environmental management system according to the international standard ISO 14001, but goes far beyond that. EMAS requires recurring environmental audits by an independent state-approved environmental auditor and the publication of a sustainability report with an integrated environmental statement.
We also focus on the use of recycled plastic in Designpens. Our recycled products, in their first life, were already products or packaging that, after use, are fed into the waste cycle, purchased, and reprocessed as recycled raw materials. Our recycled plastics come from suitable sources (post-industrial or post-consumer) and are used to manufacture high-quality products. According to the DIN EN ISO 14021 standard, Designpens may also be advertised as genuine recycled products.
Since 2010, we have been exclusively using renewable energies in production,
obtaining 100% of the electrical energy from hydropower. We also generate our
own electricity from combined heat and power and photovoltaic systems at both
production sites. With the photovoltaic systems in Germany we capture over
2,000 hours of sunshine annually to generate our own electricity, making our
energy use natural, regenerative, and climate-neutral.
Our investments in renewable energy help reduce our carbon footprint and promote a greener future. We focus on social responsibility and strong governance to create a positive impact on society and the environment. Join us in our mission for a sustainable, responsible, and ethical business.
